On November 6, 2024, the Marche Hub shined at Eima International Fair in Bologna! Our partner ITABIA led training on sustainable agri-production using organic residuals. Meanwhile, a networking event brought RuralBioUp and DeliSoilEU together with researchers, companies, and associations.
The training event “Better nutrient recycling in circular bioeconomy: Biofertilizers, Active Molecules, and Soil Improvers” was organised by ITABIA, facilitator of the Marche Hub of the RuralBioUp project, at the Eima International Fair, Bologna, and aimed at disseminating diverse experiences to make agricultural production sustainable by enhancing organic residual resources from urban and rural contexts. This involved experts from the world of business and research through networking with other European projects with similar objectives, namely Ultimate, Rustica, Excalibur and Delisoil . The course was attended by a total of 47 participants, in person and online. The training was followed by a workshop, promoted by Itabia in collaboration with the Chimica Verde bionet Association, to activate a networking action with the MULCHING+ Project ‘Soil biodegradation of nutrient enriched cellulose – and chitosan-derived mulching films for sustainable horticulture’. This project aims to prepare innovative mulching films based on biodegradable polymers (Bio-Polymers Mulching Films, BPMF) derived from cellulose and chitosan and enriched with nitrogen and phosphorus in order to release soluble nutrients after their biodegradation in the soil and thus maintain soil carbon and fertility.
On the same day at the Eima International Fair, there was also the networking event “Agro-food by-products: opportunities for sustainable agriculture?”. This event was the result of a synergy between the projects RuralBioUp and DELISOIL, with the aim to bring together various representatives from the world of research (CINSA, University of Parma, ENEA) and representatives of companies, bodies and associations operating in the agri-food and environmental sectors. The entities present were: ITABIA Italian Biomass Association, Chimica Verde Bionet, Podere Stuard, Centro di Formazione Tadini, RiCircola, Stazione Sperimentale per l’Industria delle Conserve Alimentari, Agugiaro & Figna Molini, Iridenergy, Keyra Technology.
